A solid sphere and a hollow sphere of the same material and size are heated to the same temperature and allowed to cool in the same surroundings. If the temperature difference between the body and that of the surroundings is T, then
The hollow sphere will cool at a faster rate for all values of T
Assuming that both the spheres are made from the same material and are kept at exactly the same conditions, it will be the hollow sphere that will cool faster. That is because it has the same specific heat capacity and density and is at the same temperature as the solid sphere, meaning that it has less heat to vent on account of its lower stored heat. In fact, assuming that it can vent heat inward too, it has almost double the surface area and will vent heat even faster.
