A solid weighs 300n. Calculate the pressure exerted by solid when it is kept on a glass surface if the area of contact is 400cm^2.

Open in App
Solution

Here, weight of the solid is the force exerted by it on the surface.
Force = 300N
Area=400 sq cm = 400/10000 sq metres = 0.04 sq metres
Pressure = Force/Area
=> Pressure = 300/0.04 =7500N/m^2 or 7500 Pascal
