A solution containing 30 grams of sugar dissolved in 370 grams of water. Calculate the concentration of the solution.
The mass percentage of solution = (Mass of solute/Mass of solution) x 100
Mass of solution = Mass of solvent + Mass of solute
The mass of solute = 30g sugar
The mass of solvent = 370g water
From the formula,
Mass of sugar+ Mass of water= 30g + 370g = 400g
The mass percentage(w/w) of the solution is equivalent to (30g/400g) x 100 = 7.5%
