Question

A solution contains 40 grams of common salt dissolved in 345 grams the solution. Calculate the concentration percentage of the solution by mass percentage.

Open in App
Solution

Mass (solute) = 40 grams
Mass ( solvent ) = 345 grams
Mass( solution) = Mass(solute) + Mass(solvent)
= 40 grams + 345 grams
= 385 grams
Therefore Mass % (solution) = [Mass(solute) / Mass(solvent)] ×100
= 40385 ×100
=11. 59%
