A solution contains 40g of common salt dissolved in 320ml of water. Calculate the mass concentration of the solution.

Dear Student,

Mass of solute = 40 g
Mass of solvent = 320 g.

Mass of the solution formed by mixing salt in water = 40 + 320 = 360 grams.

Mass concentration of solution = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 100.
= (40/360) x 100 = 11.11%
