Question

A solution of an organic compound is prepared by dissolving 34.2 g in 500 g of water. Calculate the molar mass of the compound Given that Kb for water =1.87K mol1.
Boiling point of solution =100.104oC. (Write up to 2 decimal places.)

Open in App
Solution

Kb of water =1.87
morality of solute =34.2m×500/1000=342×2m
( morality : mole of solute mass of solvent (kg)) (m = m: water of solute)
Elevation in boiling point = morality ×Kb
Elevation =100.104100=0.104
So .104=34.2×2m=m=1229.88
