A sperical mirror produces an image of magnification -1 on a screen placed at a distance of 50 cm from the mirror write the type of mirror?

Open in App
Solution

Magnification is the ratio of image size to object size
m=image size/object size
m=h/h’ (h is size/height)
negative magnification means that the image is inverted compared to the object.
convex mirror always produces a diminished image (absolute magnification will be less than 1)
thus the mirror is concave.
to get magnification -1 ,the object should be placed at center and the image will be formed at center itself(inverted).
