Here, a sphere of mass m moving with a constant velocity v hits another stationary sphere of the same mass. As per the given problem we can write
v1v2=ev ..................(1)
and
v1+v2=v ..................(2)
Adding (1) and (2),
2v1=v(1e)
v1=(1e)2v
Using this in (2). we get
v2=(e+1)2v
Therefore,
v1v2=(1e)2v(e+1)2v
v1v2=1ee+1
