Question

A spherical glass vessel has a cylindrical neck which is 4 cm long and 2 cm in diameter. The diameter of the spherical part is 6 cm. Find the amount of water it can hold?

Open in App
Solution

We have,
Radius of cylindrical part =1 cm
Height of cylindrical part =4 cm
Radius of spherical part =3 cm

According to the question,
Amount of water that can be held = Volume of cylindrical part + volume of spherical part
=πr2h+43πr3
=π×1 cm2×4 cm+43×π×33
=4π+36π
=40π cm3

Hence, this is the answer.
