A square and a rectanglular field with measurement as given in the figure have the same perimeter. Which field has a larger area?

Solution

Given, Square (side) =60 m
Rectangle, l=80 m

Perimeter of square = perimeter of rectangle
4(60)=2(80+b)
240=160+2b
80=2b
b=40 m

Area of square =s2
=60×60
=3600 m2

Area of rectangle =l×b
=80×40
=3200 m2
Area of squares filed is greater than area of rectangular field
