The correct option is D 28 sq mi
The square park has a side length = 6 mi
Area of the park
=Side×Side
=6×6 sq mi
=36 sq mi

Now, the side length is increased by 2 mi.
Hence, the new side length of the park will be
=6+2 mi
=8 mi

Hence,
New area of the park
=Side×Side
=8×8 sq mi
=64 sq mi

Difference of the areas
= New area of the park – Initial area of the park
=6436 sq mi
=28 sq mi
