We know that, for a square, area is equal to multiplication of its side.

Here, the side =4 cm
Therefore, area =4×4=16 square cm

And perimeter of a square is sum of all the four sides.

So, perimeter =4+4+4+4=16 cm

So, we see that in this case, the area = perimeter.

It should also be noted that while the value of the area and perimeter are equal, their units will be different.

Also, the area and perimeter of a square will not always be equal.

For example, if a square has =5 cm
its area =5×5=25 square cm

Thus this is a special case scenario, not a rule.

Perimeter =5+5+5+5+5=20 cm
