Given that the boundary of a square is 64 cm.
The side of the square is 644 cm=16 cm long.

The newly obtained figure has a boundary of length

16 cm+16 cm+14 cm+14 cm+2 cm+2 cm=64 cm,

which is equal to the boundary of the larger square.
