Let us consider a very small mass element dm at a distance x from origin. Length of mass element is dx

Area of the small element dA=2dx;
and mass per unit area (σ)=dmdA
But σ=5x (given)
5x=dm2dx
dm=10x dx

Let xCM be the position of COM along x direction. Thus, applying the formula:
xCM=xdmdm
The limits for integration are x=0 to x=2 m
xCM=20x(10x dx)2010x dx=1020x2dx1020xdx
=[x33]20[x22]20=(83)(42)=43 m
