Given,
Length of Rectangle = 50cm
Breadth of Rectangle = 40 cm
Length of Square = 12 cm

Area of Square = Length x Length
= 12 x 12

Area of Rectangle = Length x Breadth
= 50 x 40
= $2000{\text{cm}}^2$

$\therefore$ Area of remaining portion
=(Area of Rectangle) - (Area of Square)
=2000 - 144
