Question

A square wire frame of linear mass density λ=3 kg/m and side length, 3 m carrying a current of 4 A with its plane in X –Y plane. A uniform magnetic field B=2 T is directed along y –axis. The initial angular acceleration of the frame in rad/s2 is

Solution

i=4 A, L=3 m, M=iL2
τ=MBIα=iL2B;....(1)
where I is the moment of inertia of the frame about its centre.
I=2[λL12L2]+2(λL)(L2)2=2λL33....(2). From (1) and (2) α=3Bi2λL=43 rad/s2
