Total displacement in north =10m ,total displacement in south 6m ,as north and south are opposite to each other therefore resultant displacement =10−6=4m in north direction ,displacement in east direction =4m ,displacement in west direction =7m ,therefore resultant displacement 7−4=3m in west direction , it means he is 4m north and 3m west from his initial position , these two vectors are perpendicular to each other therefore the magnitude of their resultant will be , R=√42+32=5m in northwest direction
