Question

(a) State the relation between potential difference, work done and charge moved.
(b) Calculate the work done in moving a charge of 4 coulombs from a point at 220 volts to another point at 230 volts.

Open in App
Solution

If potential difference is taken as V, work done W and the charge moved as Q then the relationship is :

V = W/Q

b) We know by the above that V = W/Q
So, the needed potential difference = 230 - 220 = 10 V
Charge = 4 C
10 = W/4
W = 40 J

So the work done is 40 J
