Question

A stationary shop had three types of pens costing Rs 10,Rs 25 and Rs 50 . There were twice as many 25 -rupee pens as there were 10 -rupee pens. The 50 -rupee pens added up to a value of Rs 350 . If the total value of pens was Rs 1550, how many pens of each type were there?

Combined value of 10Rs and 25Rs pen = 1550-350=1200 Rs
Let number of pens of 10 Rs = x
then x 10+2x25=1200
(x)60=1200
x=20(number of 10 Rs pen)
number of 20 Rs pen = 2 20=40 pens
and number of 50 Rs pen = 350/50=7 pens
