Consider an elemental cylindrical shell of thickness dr and radius r.
Thermal resistance per metre length of the element is
dR=drK(2πr) [R=lKA]
Total resistance R=dR
=12πK7.0×102m5.0×102mdrr
From the data given in the question, we get
R=12πKln(75)
=1(2π)(0.07)ln(1.4)=0.765 K/W
Heat current, H=Temperature differenceThermal resistance
H=(10020)0.765=104.6 W
Heat lost in one hour = Heat current × time =(104.6)(3600)=3.76×105 J
