ΔT=800C
ΔL=LαΔT=6×12×106×80
=57.6×104m.=5.76 mm
A=π(102)10=π×104m2,L=6 m.
(a) ends do not yield.
stress=FA=yΔLL=2×106×5.766000
stress=1920 kg/cm2
(b) ends yield 1 mm, i.e. now ΔL is (5.761)

=4.76 mm
stress=yΔLL=2×106×4.766000
=1587 kg/cm2
