Question

A stone is dropped into a well in which the level of water is below the top of the well. If v is the velocity of the sound then the time T after dropping the stone is.?

Open in App
Solution

Because T2 is the time taken by the sound wave to reach the top of the well from the water level
here h=distance travelled by the sound wave
that is the depth of the well
v is the velocity of sound wave
we know that
time taken=distance travelled/velocity
so here
T2=h/v
h is the depth of well
distance between top of well and water level
v is the velocity of sound wave with which it is travelling in the well
