Question

A stone resting on the ground has a gravitational force of 20 N acting on it. What is the weight of the stone? What is its mass? (g=10 m/s2).

Solution

Here:

Weight of the stone W = the gravitational force of acting on it = 20 N

Thus the weight of the stone is 20 N.

Gravity acceleration g=10 m/s2

We know that, Weight = W = mg

=> 20 = m × 10

=> m = 20/10= 2.0 kg.
