in equilibrium.
A stone tied at the end of a string when whirled in a circular path with a uniform speed is in equilibrium. In equilibrium, multiple forces act on a body and body does not change its state or speed. Here the tension in the string provides the centripetal force required for circular motion and another force acting outward known as centrifugal force acts on the body. The body remains in same state with same speed irrespective of tension force acting towards centre and centrifugal force acting away from centre. Hence multiple forces i.e. centripetal and centrifugal forces are acting on a body but the body remains in same state with same speed. Therefore, it is in equilibrium.
