The correct option is C 12 V
Let the current i enters the cell through its +veterminal during the process of charging.


Here ε be the emf of the storage battery,

We can write the equation relating potential of A and B as,

VAεir=VB

The storage battery have been connected to an external power supply of 12.5 V that means,

VAVB=12.5 V

(The direction of current flow is from high potential to low potential)

VAVB=ε+ir

Or, ε+ir=12.5

Given, i=0.5 A, r=1 Ω

ε+(0.5×1)=12.5

ε=12.50.5=12 V
