When the gauge is shunted the equivalent resistance of the strain gauge is given by


Req=120×100×1000100000+120=119.856 Ω

Change in resistance ΔR=ReqRG

=119.856120=0.144 Ω

G.F=ΔR/Rε

ε=ΔRR×G.F=0.144120×2.1

=570×106

=570 μ strain
