Solution

The length of a conductor is directly proportional to its resistance,

P=V2R

tosupplymorepowertotheheatingelement,weneedtoreducetheR,

thereforereducethelength.

At solution:

H=I2Rt

V=IR

H=V2Rt

heatingamountissame,H1=H2

itisgiventhatsupplyissame,V1=V2

V2R1t1=V2R2t2

t1t2=R1R2

t2<t1

R2<R1,l2<l1

Hence, to reduce the heating time on the same supply, we must reduce the length.
