Two precautions which should be taken during performing the experiment to show that carbon dioxide is produced during respiration are -

• The conical flask should be air tight so that the CO₂ produced during the experiment does not escape and a partial vacuum can be created in the flask.
• Germinating seeds should be used in the experiment because germinating seeds produce CO₂ which has to be tested in this experiment.
