A student considered a mixture of iron and sulphur and heated it strongly. Now he brought a magnet near it. Explain what observations he made. Also infer them.

Iron particles have a tendency to attract towards magnet. When heated, the iron and sulphur particles combine to form iron sulphide according to the following reaction

Fe+SΔFeS

Iron sulphide, formed from iron and sulphur is not attracted by magnet since the property of constituent elements are lost when a compound is formed
