The cockroach might have survived among the two animals. This is due to the reason that cockroach respires directly through the pores called spiracles present on the body surface and thus does not require head to take in oxygen. The mouth is only used to take food and water. The oxygen inhaled reaches to the cells through tubes called trachea present in the body.
