Solution

Some reasons due to which the shadow cannot be obtained are as follows:
1) The screen might be far away from the ball. If we take the object away from the screen, the shadow becomes smaller and smaller in size and a time comes when it totally disappears from the screen.
2) The beam of light from the torch might be falling parallel to the screen on the ball due to which the shadow is not obtained on the screen. In simpler words, the screen might not be in right position.
3) The ball might not be obstructing the path of light which is falling on the screen. In order to form a shadow, the ball should be placed in such a way that it blocks the path of light emitted from the torch and forms a shadow on the screen.
