Solution

The correct option is B
Non–disjunction

Non–disjunction is the process in which paired chromosomes fail to separate and move to opposite pole during the Anaphase I stage of Meiosis. The student observed that the gamete has one chromosome extra to its haplod number. This is due to non-disjunction, as one pair of homologous chromosomes failed to separate and moved together to one end during the formation of the gamete.

When the chromosomes get separated normally, equally and move apart from each other towards the opposite poles during the process of cell division at Anaphase stage, it is known as disjunction of chromosomes.

Crossing over is the process of swapping of genetic material that occurs in germ line during the formation of egg and sperm cells. During this process paired chromosomes cross over one another that leads to recombination.

Linkage is the process in which genes are placed so close enough on chromosome that they express themselves in a parental combination and it doesnot get separated during crossing over.
