Question

A sugar solution contains 15%sugar byweight.When the solution is heated, 40% sugar is leftin the solution. The amount of water which hasdisappeared is :(A) 0.0625 g (B) 62.5 g

(C) 0.625 g (D) 6.25 g

Solution

Let the weight of solution be 100 g.
Then weight of sugar in it is 15 g.
The amount of water content in sugar solution = 85 g.

After heating ,
15 g makes the 40 % solution by mass.
Let mass of sugar solution after Heating = X g

40% of X g = 15 g
X =(15/40) x 100 = 37.5 g

Thus
Amount of water content left = 37.5 - 15 = 22.5 g

Amount of water which has evaporated = 85-22.5 = 62.5 g
