Solution

The correct option is C 55 m/s
Let
Vr,g= Veloctiy of river w.r.t ground
Vm,g= Veloctiy of swimmer w.r.t ground
Vm,r= Veloctiy of swimmer w.r.t river

Vertical component of Vm,g, Vy=DistanceTime=606=10 m/s
Since Vm,g makes an angle of 45 with the direction of river, its horizontal and vertical component will be same.
Vm,g=10^i+10^j
Vr,g=5^i
Relative velocity of swimmer w.r.t river,
Vm,r=Vm,gVr,g
Vm,r=10^i+10^j5^i=5^i+10^j
Magnitude, |Vm,r|=52+102=55 m/s
