For two glass slabs kept in contact like in the diagram,
μ1sinθ1=μ2sinθ2=μ3sinθ3
The medium in question can be considered as made up of a series of glass slabs on top of each other.



Therefore by applying the previous equation, we get
μ1sinθ1=μnsinθn
At y=0,μ1=2 and θ1=60
At y=H,μn=21+H2 and θn=90
i.e 2sin60=21+H2sin90
i.e H=231
