Given: Change in internal energy (ΔU) = 300J
Heat absorbed (q) = 400 J
Pressure = 0.5 bar
Solution: Change in internal energy is given by,
ΔU = q + W
where, q is the heat absorbed ( or given ) by the system and W is work done or by the system.
As, work is done by the system, so W= -ve
300=4000.5×ΔV×100
On simplifying we get,
ΔV = 2 L.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
