As we know that in the expansion of gas, work is done by the system.
W=PextΔV

Given that:-
Pext.=1atm
ΔV=?

W=1×ΔV=ΔV×101.33J

Given q=+0.5kJ=500J
ΔE=300J

Now from first law of thermodynamics,
ΔE=q+w

300=500+(ΔV×101.3)

ΔV=200101.33=1.97L2L

Hence the change in volume will be 2L.
