The composite figure consists of one triangle and one rectangle.

Area of triangle = 12 × base × height

Base of triangle = 20 in

Height of triangle = 4 in

Area = 12 ×20 × 4

= 40 sq in

Area of rectangle = base × width

Base of the rectangle =20 in

Height of the rectangle = 10 in

Area = 20 × 10 = 200 sq in

Hence, area of the composite figure = 40 + 200 = 240 sq in
