A tank is in the shape of a square based pyramid. The base is 3m and height is 2.5m. Find the capacity of water in liters.

Solution

We use the conversion 1m3=1000 litres. We know that a=3m and h=2.5m. Hence V=13×a2×h=13×32×2.5=7.5m3
Thus the volume is 7.5m3. Converting this to litres, capacity of the tank =7.5×1000=7500 litres.
