A taxt charges a fare of Rs 1275 for a journey of 150 km. How much would it charge for a journey of 124 km?

Open in App
Solution

Let the required charge be Rs x. Then, we have:
Distance (in km) 150 124
Taxi charges (in rupees 1275 x

Clearly, the less the distance covered, the less will be the taxi charges.
So, this is a case of direct proportion.
Now,1501275=124x217=124x2×x=124×17x=124×172x=62×17=1054
Therefore, the required charge is Rs 1,054.
