A teacher attaches a slinky (a coiled spring ) to the wall and begins introducing pulses with different amplitudes. Which of the following two pulses(A or B) below will travel from the hand to the wall in the least amount of time? Justify your answer.

  1. The teacher generates a wave pulse with different amplitudes.
  2. Amplitude is anyway unrelated to the speed of the wave. So, speed will be the same in both cases.
  3. Since velocity will be the same for both the wave pulses, we conclude that both wave pulses will reach at the same time.
    Therefore, Wave A and Wave B both will reach at the same time.
