Solution

The correct option is C 624 magazines, 180 km
a. The Ajad Hind Express News Publication prints 26 magazines every hour.
1 hour = 26 magazines
1 day = 24 hours
So, number of magazines printed = 24 × 26
Here, we do not have to perform the conventional two-digit multiplication method.
To find the value of 24 × 26 without multiplication

Step 1: Multiply the ones digit
=> 4 × 6 = 24
Then, 24 × 26 = ___24

Step 2: Both tens digits are the same, i.e., 2 . Do the increment of 1 with 2, and multiply it with the another 2.

This means = (2 + 1) × 2 = 3 2 = 6 Now×, we can frame the final multiplication value 24 × 26 = 624

b. Gitanjali express travels 18 km in 1 hour. [1 hour = 18 km] Therefore, in 10 hours the express train travels, 18 × 10 = 180 km
