Question

A thief is running on a train with the speed of 12 km/h. A police car is moving with speed of 80 km/h. If the speed of the train is 60 km/ h, what's the speed of the thief with respect to car. (Assuming that all are moving in same direction )

Solution

Speed of thief = 12 + 60 km/hr = 72 km/hr(since train covers 60 m and the thief covers 12 m in 1 second)

speed of police = 80 km/hr

speed of thief w.r.t car

=speed of thief - speed of car
= 72-80 km/hr
= -8km/hr
