Iron loss of the transformer is 5000 W. The full load percentage efficiency of the transformer operated at unity power factor will be _____.

For given 3ϕ transformer



Given, R1=0.4 Ω/phase

R2=0.1 Ω/phase

Iron loss = 5000 W

Primary line current, IL1=300×10003×3000=1003A

Primary phase current, Iph,1=IL13=1003A

Secondary line current, IL2=300×10003×1000=3003A

Secondary phase current =3003A (Star connection)

Copper loss on hv side =3I21R1 =3(1003)2×(0.4) =3×100×1009×0.4=13333.33 W

Copper loss on lv side =3I22R2=3(3003)2×(0.1)=9000 W

At unity power factor,

Efficiency, η=(300×1000×1)(300×1000×1)+5000+1333.33+9000

η=0.951374

%η=95.14%
