Question

A total of 35 pen stands is to be made using cardboard in a competition each pen stand has to be of a cylinder of radius 3cm and height 10.5 cm. Find the total area of cardboard required (take π as 22/7 ( I didnt under stood it's formula and please give a detailed explains small details and sorry for big question)


Solution

Radius of cylinder=3cm

height of cylinder=10.5 cm

Total surface area of cylinder=2πr(r+h)

2x22/7x3(3+10.5)⇒ 254.34 cm²

for 1 cylinder stand cardbord sheet require=254.34 cm²

Therefore, for 35 stands we need = 35 x 254.34 = 8901.9 cm²
