Total number of gifts = 120

Let the number of Rs.50 is x

Then the number of gifts of Rs.100 is (120 - x)

Amount spent on x gifts of Rs.50 = Rs.50x

Amount spent on (120 - x) gifts of Rs.100 = Rs.100(120 - x)

Total amount spent for prizes = Rs.10000

According to the question,

$50x+100(120-x)=10000$

$\Rightarrow 50x+12000-100x=10000$

$\Rightarrow -50x=10000-12000$

$\Rightarrow -50x=-2000$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{2000}{50}$

$\Rightarrow x=40$

$\Rightarrow 120-x=120-40=80$

Therefore, gifts of Rs.50 are 40 and gifts of Rs.100 are 80.
