A stone with Perumpatankal inscribed on it, was discovered at Khuan Luk Pat in Thailand. It is said that the stone belonged to a goldsmith called Perumpattan. The stone is a touchstone, used to test the purity of gold. Tamil-Brahmi inscriptions and Indian pottery were discovered at Berenike, Egypt. Another port, Quseir al Qadhim, located to the north of Berenike saw the discovery of pottery with Tamil-Brahmi inscriptions of Panaiori, Kanan and Cattan.
