A trader bought a number of articles for Rs 1200. Ten were damaged and he sold each of the remaining articles at Rs 2 more than what he paid for it, thus getting a profit of Rs 60 on the whole transaction. Taking no. of articles he bought as x, find x.

The correct option is B 100
Let the no. of articles bought by the trader be x.
Total cost price = Rs. 1200

CP of 1 article =1200x

10 articles were damaged, so remaining articles =(x10)

New CP of 1 article = Rs. 1200x10

SP of 1 article = Rs. (1200x10+2)

Profit on entire transaction = Rs. 60

Now for 1 article, Profit = S.P - C.P

60x10=1200x10+21200x

x=100
