A trader bought some egg at the rate of ₹36 per dozen and sold them at a profit of 40%. Find the selling price of an egg.

Cost price of an egg, CP = 36/12 = 3
Profit = 40%

[(SP - CP) / CP] x 100= profit %

=> (SP - 3)/3 x 100 = 40%
(SP - 3) = 40 x 3/100
SP - 3 = 1.2
SP = 1.2 + 3 = 4.2
