A traditional “square” bale of hay is actually in the shape of a rectangular prism. Its dimensions are 2 feet by 2 feet by 4 feet. How many square bales contain the same amount of hay as one large “round” bale?

Step 1: Volume of rectangular prism

=2*2*4=16ft3

Volume of one large bale = Bh

Step 2: Convert diameter to radius

Radius =42=2cm

Volume of large bale = =π(2)25=20π=62.8ft3

Step 3: Number of square bales require 62.816=3.925
